Background
New York City Chapter-TU was founded in 1968 and has almost 900 members. Its territory consists of the five boroughs of New York City. Chapter meetings are generally held on the first Tuesday of April, June and September at the General Society of Mechanics and Tradesman, 20 West 44th Street (between 5th & 6th Ave), NYC. Activities
The chapter's current feature conservation project is the study and restoration of Alley Creek, a small spring-fed creek in Queens. The 2 year study of the stream is complete and all signs indicate that a section of it can hold brook trout. They expect to do the necessary work on the stream--primarily dealing with storm runoff--to restore it as a brook trout habitat. Recently, with the Art Flick and Long Island chapters, they formed the Long Island Brook Trout Coalition, to preserve populations of wild brook trout and the waters where they live throughout greater long Island. The New York City chapter also holds a casting clinic in central park, a fishing forum/scotch tasting, a tying clinic and two annual trips to the Connetquot River.
